Blog Journal 5

I learned many new skills in working on my website. For one, I learned more about how to design and format a website, including linking pages and creating and formatting easy-to-read text. A design principle that I used in designing my website was CRAP, which stands for contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity. I made sure that all of my colors were the same and that my paragraphs and buttons were aligned similarly. I made sure my text and buttons were easy to read and contrasted with my background and graphics. I really liked the freedom to choose what our website could look like and how we could format it. In my future career, I will use these website design skills when creating websites or presentations for my career in social media.

There are plenty of ways I plan to use QR codes in my 9th-grade classroom. For one, during presentations, I can link to other media resources that relate to the content, such as videos, articles, etc. Another way I can use a QR code is to track attendance. I can have a QR code up at the beginning of class for an attendance quiz to keep my students accountable and responsible for showing up to class. Another way I can use QR codes in my classroom is to link to our class calendar or other resources that I want my students to bookmark on their phones.

The case study presented discusses the ethical concerns regarding teaching online. I would address this case by establishing clear academic guidelines for cheating and academic dishonesty. Especially in an online classroom, it can be hard to track students' integrity. If a student of mine was caught being dishonest in an online learning environment, I would hold a Zoom meeting with them to discuss their behavior and the consequences and offer them a redo assignment to earn points back. I will emphasize the importance of being honest academically and how academic dishonesty can negatively impact your academic and professional future. I believe this is an ethical solution because it promotes honesty, fosters healthy communication about class rules and guidelines, and provides academic forgiveness. It improves student development by encouraging them to own up to their mistakes and take responsibility.

  1. Hey Queg B, I just looked at your website and I think you did a great job, especially with your design. Everything was cohesive and followed the CRAP formula we learned. It was really easy to navigate everything thanks to the labels and it was just overall aesthetically pleasing to look at. Good job!
