I learned many new skills in working on my website. For one, I learned more about how to design and format a website, including linking pages and creating and formatting easy-to-read text. A design principle that I used in designing my website was CRAP, which stands for contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity. I made sure that all of my colors were the same and that my paragraphs and buttons were aligned similarly. I made sure my text and buttons were easy to read and contrasted with my background and graphics. I really liked the freedom to choose what our website could look like and how we could format it. In my future career, I will use these website design skills when creating websites or presentations for my career in social media.

I have really enjoyed blogging so far. I think it has been very beneficial towards acquiring better and more advanced writing skills. I like how it fosters learning through reflection and I can definitely see myself implementing blog writing for my future students. So far, I have learned the importance of writing structure and keeping your writing clear and concise. Overall, I have appreciated blogging because it allows for deeper reflection of learning, sharing ideas between classmates, and increased understanding of writing and writing structure.
An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I plan to use in my teaching will be Kahoot! Kahoot is a game-based platform that makes learning interactive. People can create quizzes, and then students can participate in those quizzes in real time. I plan to use this interactive game tool in my classroom because it engages the students through a fun and competitive learning game. I can even have the students make quizzes to challenge their knowledge while teaching their classmates. Overall, it's a great and interactive way to review information and actively participate in learning.

My initial experience with Generative AI was very interesting. I used it to create sample lesson plans and dive deeper into the structure of the lesson plans and assignment requirements. AI was very creative and detailed concepts for lesson planning and assignment creation. However, AI sometimes lacked depth and required me to ask for more prompts to regenerate different and more streamlined responses. All in all, I found AI to be very beneficial in the creation of lesson plans and it was great at dissecting information to create detailed concepts for teaching.
I plan to use AI in a variety of ways in my teaching practice. For one, inputting student's assignments into AI can provide quick and detailed feedback on spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I also plan to use AI to create unique and specialized lesson plans and assignments for different age groups or skill sets. To address ethical concerns, I will make sure it is known to students and parents that AI can be used. However, it is important to understand how to use AI effectively and transparently with academic integrity.

The standard I chose to examine is SC.1.CO.1.6. This standard means to save your digital work frequently. It is crucial students learn to save their digital work periodically throughout the process of working on it for many reasons. It can help save your progress in case of technology issues and reduce the stress and worry of losing your work. I feel prepared to implement this with my current skill set because I have unfortunately experienced losing my work due to not saving it frequently. I understand the value and importance of saving your work regularly and am familiar with the process on various digital platforms.
A standard in the CPALMS Educator Toolkit that I analyzed along with its resources was ELA.11.C.1.5, which is to "improve writing by considering feedback from adults, peers, and/or online editing tools, revising to improve clarity, structure, and style." The resources included in this standard are 3 lesson plans that revolve around writing a resume, revising it, and peer-reviewing their classmates' resumes. Especially in 9th grade, students are starting to apply for part-time jobs, I believe using these lesson plans will be beneficial to my students in learning. Integrating these lesson plans into my teaching will allow my students to develop stronger and more concise writing. The peer review aspect is very important because it teaches them to see their writing from a different perspective, which can help them to better develop their writing style and clarify their ideas. Also, using online editing tools will help teach my students about digital literacy and how to use online writing platforms effectively.
I believe it is important to be a proficient Internet searcher as a teacher because it can provide teachers with up-to-date teaching materials, resources, lesson plans, and tools that can improve their teaching abilities and enhance their student's learning. It is a teacher's responsibility to find accurate and reliable information for their teaching, so it is imperative that teachers are educated and well-versed in Internet searching. The Internet searching skill that I learned this week that I will be using in the future is navigating the Google advanced search feature. This tool will be very beneficial because it allows for more refined search results and more specific information, which will be beneficial in finding quality, reliable, and relevant educational resources for teachers.
Artificial intelligence can be used in many different ways in the K-12 setting. My initial thought on using AI in a K-12 setting is that it can be very beneficial for teachers to personalize certain teaching materials to fit the needs of certain students. It can enhance the creativity and flexibility of teaching instruction. There are downsides to using AI in an educational setting, like providing students with an outlet to plagiarize or use writing that is not their own. However, I believe AI has far more benefits to teaching, like aiding in grading assignments or saving time in performing tasks like writing and formatting emails.

Copyright and fair use are important concepts that teachers have to deal with. As a teacher, I would ensure that the content I use in my teaching materials contains content that is available to use for educational purposes or is fair use. I plan to encourage my students to use sources and materials that are original and copyright-free. I also plan to teach them about copyright and fair use because it is very important, especially in an English class. Researching more about copyright and fair use, I gained more insight into how copyright applies to education. I still have lingering questions and concerns about online content being used in my instructional material.
Decreased productivity is an issue that I will probably face in my classroom. There are a few solutions that I propose for this issue. One is to teach using engaging activities such as classroom games and group work. Another solution to the problem is to create a supportive and friendly environment. Fostering a welcoming and inclusive community in our classroom can make for a healthy learning environment.
There are a few new skills I learned by working on the Newsletter Design assignment, including shading and formatting text and pictures. In the future, I can improve my newsletter by improving the design of the text, choosing different layout options, and playing around with color and themes. The skills I learned in this assignment can be used in my future career in multiple ways. For one, designing newsletters on Word will be very beneficial in the communication between teachers and parents. I can also use these skills to help create visually appealing worksheets or presentations.

I have extensive experience using Microsoft Word. During high school, I obtained a certification for Microsoft Word 2013. Throughout K-12, Microsoft Word was used heavily for writing papers or taking notes. In college, I use Microsoft Word to format academic papers and for their very convenient templates. I prefer using Google Docs over Microsoft Word for many reasons. For one, I like that all of my work is in the cloud and accessible on any device that enables Google. It is also easier to collaborate with others on documents using Google Docs, and I have found it much simpler to use than Microsoft Word.
The ISTE Standard for Educators that is the most meaningful to me is Citizen. As an educator, I want to be able to guide and mentor my students by creating a safe and inclusive community through the use of digital media. This standard emphasizes teaching your students the importance of digital safety while allowing them the freedom to be interconnected in the digital web. After reading through the ISTE Standards for Educators, I have learned many new things about how teachers should use and guide their students in using technology. I don't have any questions or concerns because the standards were straightforward to follow.
I agree that the term "digital native" is an appropriate term used to describe today's youth. To be a digital native means that you were born and were around when digital technology was readily available and accessible. I have seen differences between how I and most of my teachers use technology. For example, one teacher of mine was having a hard time on a website, and the whole class had to explain to her how to navigate the website. The differences have impacted my learning experience a little because it can be frustrating trying to learn something when the teacher doesn't know how to use the online platform they are trying to use to teach. I anticipate some differences between me and my future students in terms of how I use technology, but I believe I am pretty tech-savvy and can learn new technologies quickly.
